I will start with the problem in my head. I was really worried about money at first. I booked a car on QEEQ. The plan was to pick up a Budget RAV4 in Pittsburgh on the night of March 14th 2026 and return it around noon on March 24th in Boston. It is a one way trip and many days, so my first thought was that my card would get hit with a big charge right away. Then I saw something called One-Dollar Freeze. At first I did not really trust it. I thought maybe there was some trick in small text. When I made the booking I only paid 1 dollar. In that moment I felt very relaxed. In my mind I was like this is crazy I can lock this car with just one dollar. The rest of the money did not go away from my credit card at once so I could still use my limit for other plans. Close to the start of the rental they took the rest of the payment automatically. There were no extra fees and no interest. I did not need to think about payment anymore and could just focus on the car and my plan. For someone young like me who has to watch every expense this way of paying only 1 dollar first and then getting charged later made the booking feel very light and it did not put big pressure on my credit card.
